Description: An extremely rare Kangxi mark and period stem cup of deep rounded sides rising to an everted rim, supported on a tall splayed foot encircled by a raised fillet, the exterior delicately enamelled with three butterflies among berries.
The present pattern is extremely rare among early Qing interpretations of Chenghua period stem cups, as most appear to be decorated with a lotus scroll. The base bears an underglaze blue Kangxi six-character mark and of the period.
Size: Approx 7.5 cm high.
Condition: Various cracks.
Note! Sotheby’s sold a Kangxi period similar shaped cup with apocryphal Chenghua mark for approx £35,000
